A lifelong Ridgefield resident, John Frey is the designated broker and a founding partner of CENTURY 21 Landmark Properties.

John brings a unique background to his real estate practice combining years of residential and commercial sales experience with hands-on experience regulating the real estate industry and authoring real estate legislation.

Prior to opening his office, Mr. Frey was associated with CENTURY 21 Knoche Realty.  There, he was consistently a top ten producer in the Connecticut region.

Mr. Frey represented Connecticut REALTORS in 1993-1994 as a member of the Connecticut Institute of Municipal Studies’ Property Revaluation Task Force.

In April 1995, Governor John G. Rowland appointed Mr. Frey Chairman of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission, whose primary responsibility is overseeing the state’s 20,000 real estate licensees.  He was the youngest Chairman in state history, an appointment that ran through his election to the Connecticut General Assembly.  In his four years as Chairman, Mr. Frey advised the Governor and Legislature on real estate matters.  Mr. Frey has overseen many changes in the state’s regulations, including mandatory Property Condition Disclosure, Buyer Representation and Relocation Policy.  In addition, he acted as the hearing officer in all disciplinary hearings where he had the power to fine and revoke licenses for actions that violate state statute.

Mr. Frey in October 1996 was appointed to America Online’s Real Estate Board of Advisors.  There, Mr. Frey answered questions on real estate and real estate law and regulations.

Mr. Frey has been published and or participated in interviews appearing in The Commercial Record, The Wall Street Journal, The Hartford Courant, The New York Times, USA Today, and Mobility Magazine among others.

In April, 1997 Mr. Frey was appointed as Governor Rowland’s representative to the University of Connecticut Center for Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies Advisory Board, a post he still holds. The Center, part of the Business School, tracts trends in real estate and recently began offering a Bachelor’s Degree in Real Estate.

In 1998, Mr. Frey was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives, where he continues to serve on the Finance, Revenue and Bonding and the Insurance and Real Estate Committee.  For the 2001-2001 term, he served as the ranking House member of the Labor and Public Employees Committee.  In January 2003 Mr. Frey was appointed Assistant Minority Leader.

Mr. Frey has served on two National Association of Realtors’ committees.  One studied issues pertaining to corporate relocation practices and the other made recommendations to the Department of Housing and Urban Development on changes to federal RESPA laws.

Mr. Frey has served as an advisor to many candidates, including President George H. W. Bush, former Senator Bob Dole, President George W. Bush and Governor John Rowland.  Mr. Frey was a Connecticut Delegate to both the 1992 and 1996 Republican National Conventions.  He served on the Platform Committee at the 1996 National Convention.

Mr. Frey serves as a member of the Board of Directors of both the Visiting Nurse Association of Ridgefield and the Ridgefield Community Center.  He currently serves as President of the Ridgefield Community Center.  He is an advisory member to the Ridgefield Meals on Wheels.

A Ridgefield resident since 1966, he lives at 2 Copps Hill Road.
